Sparky's Story
Construction at Ithaca Generator
Sparky was created in the spring of 2019 by artists Doug Shire and Laurence Clarkberg. Sparky was initially built at the Ithaca Generator makerspace in Ithaca New York. Sparky's frame is constructed out of steel tubing covered in chicken wire.
Construction in Doug's Garage
After creating Sparky's frame we moved him to Doug's garage in order to attach him to the pedal cart.
Electric Motor
It was kind of hard to pedal Sparky, especially when four or five people were riding him. So we added this 2,000 watt Cyclone ebike motor.
Truck & Trailer
Sparky's head and legs come off and his torso and cart fit side-by-side in his custom trailer.
